Man & Woman Face Court for Having Sex Outside of Marriage in UAE | Al Bawaba
Women will encounter few problems travelling around the UAE by themselves. Harassment both vocal and physical is rare, though not nonexistent. It's safe to walk around late at night by yourself in most areas, take taxis and public transport and to stay in budget hotels as a solo woman. You will often be asked about why you're travelling by yourself and where your family is.
The RAK Criminal Court sentenced the couple after a passer-by heard noises coming from the car and reported it to the police, who caught the couple red -handed. A senior court official said the couple initially denied having an illicit affair despite the evidence the authorities collected against them. During the court session, the suspect provided the court with a marriage contract signed by himself and his partner stating that they were already married.
Presided by judge Sameh Shaker, the court dropped the charge of human trafficking levelled against the defendants and acquitted three others, including a hotel owner and a woman hotel manager, for reporting the incident to the authorities. According to court records, the woman manager informed the police that she suspected the behaviours of some hotel customers from India and Bangladesh. She said that they rented a number of hotel rooms for a long time and received a number of visitors in the rooms. The police investigation revealed that the prime suspect, his wife and some other women were running the hotel rooms as prostitution dens. They found that the women were offering sex for money in the hotel rooms.
